Buildings in Ferrara

Ferrara is the Surname of my Mother.

Ferrara, which grew up around a ford (A shallow place in a body of water, such as a river, where one can cross by walking or riding on an animal or in a vehicle.)(Not Ford!) over the River Po, became an intellectual and artistic centre that attracted the greatest minds of the Italian Renaissance in the 15th and 16th centuries. Here, Piero della Francesca, Jacopo Bellini and Andrea Mantegna decorated the palaces of the House of Este. The humanist concept of the 'ideal city' came to life here in the neighborhoods built from 1492 onwards by Biagio Rossetti according to the new principles of perspective.

After seeing Bochnia Poland, the place of my Father's Surname, it seemed only right to go to Ferrara. It's a perfect location 3.5 hours from the beautiful mountains for some of the best skiing in the World, 3.5 hours from Milano for some of the best shopping in the World and 3.5 hours from Vienna for some of the most beautiful sightseeing in the World. Ultimately, it is a very beautiful city seemingly untouched from the best of the 1400's, every cooridor offering breathtaking mysteries. Now if I could just get used to all the stores and restaurants closing from 2-5,6,or 7:30............
